Francis Tiafoe knocked out Andriy Rublev in the quarterfinals at the 2022 US Open, becoming the first black player to reach this stage since Arthur Ashe (in 1972). ATP dedicated an Instagram post to her, but her text really pissed off her fans.

Frances was more cautious in the important moments and defeated the ninth seed with a score of 7-6(3), 7-6(0), 6-4. The match lasted two hours and 38 minutes.

ATP accused of racism – Fans criticized the post dedicated to the qualification of Francis Tiafoe in the semi-finals of the US Open

“The first black American to reach the semi-finals of the US Open since Arthur Ashe in 1972,” read the ATP’s Instagram post.

Fans were displeased and responded: “Black????? If Rublev won, then what? A red person???”, “Who cares about color?”, “Racism will not disappear if there are posts like this”.

Tiafoe (22nd favorite) will face Carlos Alcaraz (3rd), who beat Yannick Sinner (11th) in the quarterfinals, to advance to the grand finals of the event at Flushing Meadows.
