
Single-seaters Mercedes and Ferrari dominated Friday’s first free practice ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the 15th round of the Formula One World Championship.
George Russell (1:12.455) and Lewis Hamilton (+0.240) were fastest in the first session, while Charles Leclerc (1:12.35) and Carlos Sainz (+0.004) finished first in the second session.
Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the reigning world champion and undisputed leader in the drivers’ standings, blamed a gearbox problem in the first session, and in the second he clocked a 1:13.042.
