Ten days after Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and said he needed to close all outstanding issues in Greek football, the two international confederations are starting to work today.
In the morning (11 a.m.), their delegation will meet with Deputy Sports Minister Lefteris Avgenakis to find a solution to the problems plaguing the popular sport.
The first and most “hot” issue, at the moment, is the registration of clubs in the GGA registry, as amateur football remains “on the ice.”
Many clubs have not renewed their registrations and by law on Monday when a new renewal expires they must be disqualified from their association leagues. FIFA and UEFA, together with the EPO, of course, oppose sanctions that will affect the competitive part, without ignoring, of course, the fact that in order to receive state support and state funding, there must be appropriate criteria.
For this reason, a generally accepted formula is being sought so that the ball can start rolling on the grass again, which expresses optimism. During the discussions, they are expected to reveal issues included in the holistic study, such as professional arbitration.
