Ankara insists to false claims that Greece used the Russian S-300 system in Crete to “lock up” Turkish F-16 and even intends to transfer these non-existent charges to NATO.
According to the Anadolu agency, the Ministry of Defense of the neighboring country is preparing to send images with radar trackswhich “prove” jamming and supposedly “locking” the fighter with the S-300 system.
The Turkish agency notes that the images will be sent to the ministries of defense of the member countries of the alliance, as well as to the NATO Secretary General.
The Turkish Defense Minister also made a statement on this matter. Hulusi Akar, who said: “We need to see, understand and explain what our neighboring country has done, which is constantly trying to escalate tension. This blatant malice and recklessness is unacceptable.”
Recall that Turkey claims that on August 23, Russian S-300 systems in Crete “hooked” on a Turkish aircraft on a mission at an altitude of 10,000 feet west of Rhodes. According to Ankara, this incident constitutes a “hostile act” according to the NATO charter.
Beside, according to the Turkish side, Greek military aircraft violated Turkish airspace 256 times and harassed Turkish aircraft 158 times. It also alleges that Greek Coast Guard vessels violated Turkish territorial waters 33 times.
