​The Romanian women’s polo team defeated the Netherlands 28-0 on Thursday in a European Championship Group A match in Split, Croatia.

The halftime score was 8-0, 7-0, 6-0, 7-0.

Finals debutants Romania thus suffered their fourth straight defeat after 10-15 against Germany, 3-24 against Greece and 6-15 against Croatia.

The tricolor made 24 shots at the goal of the Dutch, but did not score a single one.

In the Netherlands national team, European champion in 2018 and bronze medalist of the World Championship this summer, goals were scored by Simone van de Kraats (8), Maartje Keuning (5), Fleurien Bosveld (4), Lola Moolhuizen (4), Ilse Koolhaas (2) ), Iris Vovki, Rosanne Wurvelt, Kitty Lynn Joustra, Nina ten Broek, and Bente Rogge.

The highest score recorded in the current edition of the competition was achieved by Spain, 32-3 against Serbia.

In another match played on Thursday, Greece beat Germany 13-3. In the other match of the group, Croatia and Hungary will play.

The leader is the Netherlands with 12 points, followed by Greece – 9 points, Croatia – 6 points, Hungary – 3 points, Germany – 3 points, Romania – 0 points. The first four places will go to the quarterfinals, and the last two will play ranking matches (9-10, respectively 11-12).

Romania will play its last match in the group on September 3 against Hungary (11:00 Romanian time), this year’s vice-champion of the world, writes Agerpres.
