Spain: sharp cut in fuel consumption tax from October

The Spanish government continues to reduce the tax on fuel consumption, as announced on Thursday by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The tax cut will be drastic as it will be cut from 21% to 5%, Mr Sanchez said in an interview with a Spanish radio station.

According to the statements of the head of the Spanish government, the reduction in the fuel sales tax will be implemented from October against the backdrop of a consistent increase in the final consumer price, which, like in the rest of Europe, consumers in Spain are also facing.

In an interview with radio station Cadena SER, Mr. Sanchez said that for now the measure will be implemented before the end of the year.

This year, the Spanish government reduced the value-added tax on electricity twice.
