“As a politician, he was identified with the terms ‘reconstruction’ and ‘transparency’, which, however, did not bring results in his country,” Mr. Mitsotakis continues, accompanying his post with a photo from a previous meeting with Gorbachev.
And he concludes: “However, he turned into a person who made a decisive contribution to the cause of peace, international understanding and democratization. Values that today are being severely tested on the lands of his old homeland. May his faith in them remain his greatest legacy.”
