
Romania’s men’s polo team picked up their first win at the European Championships in Split, Croatia on Wednesday, 11-4 against Germany in a Group C match.
The score at halftime was 2-2, 3-1, 3-0, 3-1.
The Tricolors, who lost their opening match 9-16 against Spain, the reigning world champions and European runners-up, dominated the game after a balanced start, winning with ease.
For the team coached by Bohdan Rath, Tudor Fulea (5 goals), Andriy Neamtsa, Victor Antipa, Bohdan Remes, Silvian Kolodrovski and Levente Wanczyk scored, which was the first official victory as a selector.
Mateo Zuk (2), Finn Schütze and Denys Strelezky scored the goals for the losers.
Also on Wednesday, Spain beat the Netherlands 11-10.
The leader of the group is Spain, which has 6 points, followed by the Netherlands – 3 points, Romania – 3 points, Germany – 0 points. The winner will advance directly to the quarter-finals, while the 2nd-3rd place teams will compete in cross-over play-offs for the quarter-finals.
