Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the Russian-backed administration in Zaporizhia Oblast, posted a photo on Telegram that he said shows a hole in the roof of a building where reactor fuel is stored.

Reuters could not verify the information.

Kyiv and Moscow deny targeting Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, blaming each other for it. Both Russia and Ukraine say that the situation at the facility threatens the security of Europe, and accuse each other of the risk of a nuclear disaster.

After the attack was announced, officials said radiation levels at the station were normal.

Russian-appointed officials in Zaporizhzhia on Monday accused Ukraine of “continuous shooting” at the plant. According to the TASS agency, Ukraine used an American-made M777 howitzer for the attack.

Media reported the attack after the IAEA said on Monday it was sending a team to the nuclear plant, which is run by Ukrainian staff but under the control of the Russian military.
