New international recognition was won by Greece and Naxos, with a focus on the coast. According to popular German media Reisexclusiv.comNaxos ranks as the third most popular destination in the world thanks to its dream beaches.
The list was compiled after a journalistic survey of German travelers looking for authentic travel experiences and destinations without mass tourism.
In particular, the magazine is dedicated to Plaka beach on Naxos with its sparkling golden sand and seductive turquoise water, perfect for both sunbathing and water sports.
“For those who want to spend their holidays where Mamma Mia was filmed,” says the German publication, which recommends Plaka Beach in Naxos, which has several beach bars and restaurants serving delicious Mediterranean salads and grilled fish.
“The beach is suitable for those who want to go kayaking or wakeboarding. And if you want, there is a nudist beach on the north side of the beach.
In addition, the list includes Kerala in India, Namibia, Scotland, Cambodia, Oregon, the Cayman Islands, Grenada in the Caribbean, the German island of Sylt, Hawaii, Rio de Janeiro and Whitsunday Island in Australia.
And the French “vote” for Naxos
At the same time, Naxos has recently been touted in France as the Greek island that has it all.
Quentin Lafont, a popular French travel blogger and photographer, went to the largest island of the Cyclades – with the care of the French EOT office, in collaboration with the Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades – to capture Naxos photographically.
In this context, he created a “pentalogue” in which he explains what visitors can do in this ideal place:
- To discover the country
- Tour the white villages of Naxos
- Dreaming of Ancient Greece in the Temple of Demeter
- Visit the village of Apollo and Kouros
- Visit the most beautiful beaches of the island.
