Defeated two weeks ago in Argentina, Dave Rennie’s side have won two of their three matches in the competition. The world champions from South Africa have not won in Australia for nine years and recorded their second consecutive defeat after the home game against New Zealand, writes Agerpres.
Australia was able to score three tries: Fraser McWright (2 and 57 minutes) and Marika Koroibete (47), the first and last realized by Noah Lolesio, who also realized two penalties (7, 64).
Two late tries from South Africa’s Quagga Smith (75, 80), both converted by Elton Jantjies, denied the Australians an attacking bonus. The guests got the other points after a penalty by Handre Pollard (24).
South Africa last won the competition in 2019 and Australia in 2015.
The two teams will meet again next Saturday in Sydney in Round 4.
