A year ago, Emma Reducanu surprised the entire tennis world and won the US Open after exiting the qualifiers. On Friday, the British athlete caused excitement among the fans by leaving the court in the middle of training.
According to Yahoo Sports, the player of Romanian origin began to cry in pain during training (she explained the discomfort in her right hand) and after talking with coach Dmytro Tursunov, she received medical help in the locker room.
About 15 minutes later, Redukanu returned to the court and continued training with Russian Kateryna Aleksandrova (28 WTA). They left the arena at 13:00 local time after preparing for an hour and 45 minutes.
Emma hit the ball hard, but had problems with her serve. The 19-year-old sportswoman delayed throwing the ball several times and made numerous double mistakes.
Emma played with bandages on her right fingers and wrist, which happened throughout the American season (Redukana beat Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka in Cincinnati).
After winning at Flushing Meadows in 2021, Emma Reducanu suffered numerous minor injuries: blisters on her hands and feet, back pain (which forced her to withdraw from the tournament in Rome) and an abdominal problem that limited her training in the lead-up to Wimbledon.
