The Romanian delegation at the European Championship, consisting of 21 athletes (9 women and 12 men), returns to the country with only one medal: Bianca Gelber’s gold in the hammer throw.
Previously, the last medals won by the Romanian delegation were in 2010 in Barcelona, Marian Opria (triple jump) and Nicoleta Grasa (discus throw), both bronze.
Bianca Gelber won the 2022 gold medal 20 years after a similar performance by Ionela Tarlea in the 400-meter hurdles, News.ro reports.
