Ukrainian military personnel are trained in a virtual training center to fly American A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft, although the United States has not yet made a decision to provide Ukraine with such aircraft, but in the hope that Kyiv will provide them someday, The Time reports, Ukrainian Pravda writes.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine considers the acquisition of multi-purpose fighters a priority.

According to Time, at the end of July, journalist Simon Shuster was shown a “secret center” created to train Ukrainian pilots to operate A-10 attack aircraft.

The idea of creating the center belonged to the former head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Oleksandr Horgan.

In an interview with an American publication, Deputy Minister of Defense Oleksandr Polishchuk noted that countries usually do not start training pilots at the stage when there are no planes yet, but Ukraine does not have time to wait.

According to Time, the journalist was shown the “secret center” inside, but before he got there, he was blindfolded.

According to the correspondent, the camera is equipped with sophisticated flight simulators. A virtual reality headset and software are provided for training.

As can be seen from the material of the publication, there is no certainty regarding the supply of A-10 attack aircraft either to Ukraine or to the USA.

The American-made A-10 Thunderbolt II is a relic of the Cold War, designed specifically to destroy Russian tanks, but vulnerable in disputed airspace, as is currently the case over territory not controlled by the Ukrainian government.
