
Explosive growth continues to register value import Greece from Russiadespite the sanctions imposed against Moscow due to the increase in the price of natural gas.
According to her ELSTATbetween January and June 2022, the value of Greek imports from Russia amounted to 3.461 billion euros, an increase of 112.3% compared to the corresponding period in 2021, which amounted to 1.63 billion euros.
On the contrary, the value of Greek exports to Russia fell to 60.2 million euros, recording a 30.3% drop compared to the period from January to June 2021, when it was 86.4 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Russia in the first half of the year was negative and amounted to a deficit of 3.401 billion euros.
They have more than doubled compared to the corresponding period in 2021, despite the sanctions imposed against Moscow.
On a monthly basis, the value of imports from Russia jumped to €625.3m last June, up 86.3% from €335.7m in June 2021.
By contrast, exports to Russia fell by 26.9%, with their value falling to EUR 12.7 million in June (from EUR 17.4 million in June 2021). The trade balance between Greece and Russia in June 2022 was negative and amounted to a deficit of 612.6 million euros. In terms of bilateral trade with Ukraine, in June 2022 the value of Greek imports was 8.5 million euros, which is 40.9% less than in June 2021, which was 14.4 million euros.
The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in June 2022 amounted to 86.0 million euros, an increase of 148.9% compared to June 2021, which was 34.6 million euros.
In the first half of 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine fell to 74.5 million euros, which is 14.9% less than in the period from January to June 2021, which was 87.5 million euros. The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in the period from January to June 2022 amounted to 130.6 million euros, an increase of 28.6% compared to the period from January to June 2021, which amounted to 101.5 million euros.
