
Christian Golomeev and Apostolos Christou climbed the podium at the European Aquatics Championships held in Rome.
Swimmer Akisa Oikonomou won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. The 29-year-old had a great race and climbed to the podium for the third time in a row.
The 29-year-old athlete won a silver medal in Glasgow 2018 and a bronze in 2021 in Budapest. Golomeev finished in 21.75 seconds, which is a record this year.
Briton Benjamin Proud won the gold medal with a time of 21.58 seconds. Leonardo Deplano of Italy came in second with a time of 21.60 seconds.
A little later, Apostolos Christou climbed to the second step of the podium in the 100-meter backstroke. Swimmer Panagiotis Velencas, who won gold in the 50m backstroke a few days ago, finished in 52.24 seconds.
The gold medal was won by Italian Thomas Ceccon with a time of 52.21 seconds. France’s Johan Etoye rounded out the top three with a time of 52.92 seconds.
