In a few months, Smart changed. No more micro-city cars, make way for 100% electric SUVs, and above all a joint venture between Daimler and the Chinese giant Geely. The first model of the collaboration, Smart #1, is a 4.30 m urban SUV with a minimalist design. But Smart is still aiming for a premium market, as well as materials and performance. But 272 hp. not enough for you Good news: in the new era, Smart continues to cooperate with the German manufacturer Brabus. The bad news: no technical information has been provided and it may well be that this Smart #1 Brabus will not gain at all in terms of performance…

However, we know this Brabus version wins a few more aggressive touches outside. On both sides of the front bumper, the air intakes have been slightly redesigned for a sportier look. Instead of fighter-type protection, the lower part of the radiator grille is now decorated with a small splitter highlighted in red. First of all, two air intakes appear on the upper part of the nose.

Inside, the work was mainly focused on materials and colors. The color theme continues here: surfaces upholstered in Alcantara or equivalent (seats, steering wheel), and aluminum pedals. Sun visors are translucent. Interesting! finally, Brabus logos are born everywhere to remind of the origin of the whole.

Over 400 hp? There is nothing less certain…

What about performance? Brabus is known, in particular, for its “tuned” Mercedes with 800 or even 900 hp, what can we expect from this new era Smart SUV? Well, nothing yet. Smart isn’t reporting a power boost for the No. 1 at all, so you’d think this version of the Brabus would represent primarily a high-end sports type, the GT-Line or RS-Line, as seen elsewhere. But don’t let the power fans despair: there are rumors in China that this version will be developed more than 400 hp.

So who will be right? The answer will come in the next few weeks when Smart officially unveils the #1 Brabus in China.
