Yesterday afternoon, a 25-year-old man was arrested for transporting immigrants who entered the country illegally.
The car, driven by a 25-year-old man, was on Egnatia-Odos Street, at the height of the Lagada junction. The driver, ignoring the light and sound signals, did not comply with the parking signal given to him and developed speed in order to avoid the inevitable control. After some time, the car was stopped and the driver was arrested despite trying to flee on foot.
The 25-year-old citizen lacks travel documents and a driver’s license, and during the check it was found that he was transporting thirteen foreigners, three of whom were in the luggage compartment, who did not have documents for legal stay in Greece.
The arrested person will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office with a file drawn up by police officers of the Migdonia Immigration Management Department.
