David Popovici became the fastest ever swimmer in the 100m freestyle after a fantastic race at the European Swimming Championships in Rome on Saturday. After another incredible performance, the 17-year-old posted a quote on his personal Facebook page.

David Popovici, 100m freestyle world record at CE Natatie Rome

David Popovici won the gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the European Swimming Middleweight Championships in Rome. In this race, the Romanian also set a new world record (46.86).​​

The Romanian swimmer was followed by Christoph Milak (47.47) and Alessandro Miressi (47.63).

Davyd Popovichi will also compete at the European Swimming Championships in Rome in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 4x100m freestyle relay.
