Relatives of Russian soldiers who died at the front in Ukraine are notified of their death with forms printed as far back as 1974 by the Soviet Union, this is an image published on Telegram by human rights activist Maryna Litvynovych, writes Meduza.io.
The form, printed almost half a century ago, is a “document” that gives the right to receive pensions and benefits in connection with the loss of a breadwinner, established by the legislation of the USSR.
Pentagon chief Colin Kahl said on Monday that about 80,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
On July 20, CIA Director William Burns stated that Russian losses were estimated at 15,000 dead and possibly 45,000 wounded.
According to the latest estimates of the Ukrainian military on Friday morning, Russian losses totaled 43,000 soldiers. In its assessments, Kyiv does not specify which figure it is about, noting only that it is about “liquidated” enemies, many Western media, such as the BBC, believe that it is about both killed and wounded.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has officially reported military casualties only twice. On March 2, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow reported 498 dead and 1,597 wounded, on March 25 – 1,351 dead and 3,825 wounded.
