James Vasquez, the most famous American soldier who fought on the side of Ukrainians against the Russian invaders, announced that he returned to Ukraine after several months in the United States.
“I woke up at 4 a.m. due to heavy shelling. Some things never change. It’s hard to get wifi so I can only post when I’m around [terminal] Starlink,” he announced on his page Twitteradding in a separate post that he is with another American veteran whom he met in Kyiv.
“He’s a geneticist and he’s going to demine for us,” Vasquez said Wednesday, adding that he was in an area heavily mined by the Russians. The British Ministry of Defense on Monday accused the Russian military of planting butterfly mines in Donbas, which are known to have caused a large number of child victims.
Vazquez’s announcement comes after he said on August 5 that he was enjoying the last weekend to rest before returning to “Russian affairs”. “And I hear that Russian business is booming!” he exclaimed.

As many of you know, Ripley’s heroes teamed up with Return Alive. I spent some time in the warehouse getting your donated gear laser engraved so when it goes down people will know you did it. Thank you all very much pic.twitter.com/sN8jfLDagl

The US military has published unprecedented footage from the battles
In July, Vazquez, who was in the United States at the time, where he had returned to sell his house after his wife filed for divorce, released a series of videos showing the fighting in the first weeks of the war, with dramatic footage showing , as Ukrainian soldiers fought the occupiers from house to house.
It is not clear where the footage was taken, but images posted by Vasquez on his Twitter page on March 25 show him taking part in fighting in the Kyiv region, including the operation to liberate Lukyanivka, a town of about 11,000 residents. located 60 kilometers east of the Ukrainian capital.
James Vazquez has become the most famous American soldier fighting in Ukraine thanks to the many videos he has posted during the months of fighting against the soldiers Vladimir Putin sent to Ukraine on February 24.
Vasquez’s call in early April went viral on social media after he strongly called for modern weapons to fight the Russians:
“Give us weapons, please. We will not win with two weapons,” he said on April 8.
“We need M-16s (assault rifles), M-4s (carbines), target designators including lasers, ammunition, ammo, rounds, Javelins, old damn AT-4 launchers, I know they’re probably in some kind of storage, fragmentation of a grenade, if not… then you can bring bags for corpses,” the American military said.
