
Today’s session of the stock exchange was held in a restrained atmosphere, the market closed slightly lower amid weak trading activity.
Of the large capitalizations, Ellactor, Sarantis, Viohalco and Ethniki outperformed others. The general price index closed at 859.52 points, recording a slight drop of 0.09%. The transaction value was EUR 34.30 million, with 15,667,677 shares sold. The large-cap index fell 0.15%, while the mid-cap index fell 0.26%.
The overall index closed at 859.52, down 0.09%.
Of the large-cap stocks, Ellactor (+4.70%), Sarantis (+4.26%), Viochalco (+2.55%), Ethniki (+2.00%) and Alfa-Bank (+1 ,16%). On the contrary, the shares of OPAP (-2.20%), GEK TERNA (-1.64%), Titan (-1.31%) and OTE (-1.11%) recorded the largest decline. Of the individual indices, the largest growth was recorded by the indices of raw materials (+1.52%) and real estate (+0.99%), and the travel (-2.00%) and financial services (-1.67%) indices.
European markets were nervous yesterday as investors watched today’s US inflation data and assessed how aggressive the Federal Reserve’s move to tighten monetary policy would be. Thus, the pan-European Eurostoxx 600 index fell and closed with a slight loss of 0.6%, while the shares of travel companies and the entertainment sector showed the largest drop with a loss of 2.5%. In contrast, oil and gas stocks rose 1.2% following a recovery in oil prices. West Texas Intermediate oil traded late at $91.86/bbl, up 1.21%, while Brent crude was $97.89/bbl, up 1.28%. The London FTSE 100 closed up 0.06% slightly, the Frankfurt Xetra DAX closed down 0.96% and the Paris CAC 40 down 0.53%.
