​The number of new cases of COVID-19 is again approaching the 10,000 mark, 9,864 diseases were registered in the last day, which is 5,175 more than the previous day. The highest number of new cases – 1,319 – is in Bucharest, where the infection rate is 9.62 ppm.

The 1,996 new cases in 24 hours are reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after initial infection.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 382 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

A little more than 4 thousand hospitalized patients with COVID-19

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 4,077, which is 222 less than the previous day.

295 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 21 more than the previous day.

Of the 295 patients admitted to the HTP, 257 are unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of hospitalized, 605 are minors, 601 are in wards, which is 53 less than the previous day, and 4 are in intensive care units, 1 more than the previous day.

43 people died in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,236 people with a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the period from 08/08/2022 (10:00) to 08/09/2022 (10:00), according to the National Institute of Social and Social Sciences, 43 deaths were recorded (20 men and 23 women), including 2 deaths before the control interval.

Of the 43 fatal cases, 11 were registered in the age category of 60-69 years, 14 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 18 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases, 11 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 5,703 RT-PCR tests were conducted (3,492 based on case definition and medical protocol and 2,211 on request) and 26,500 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,351,483 RT-PCR tests and 10,915,766 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
