A fierce attack was made SYRIZA against the Prime Minister over his statement in the phone spying case, describing him as “arrogant”, “repentant” and a “liar”.

The 48-hour deadline he gave himself to apologize, unfortunately, did not in the least restore Mr. Mitsotakis’ attitude to the truth. In addition to being a liar, he seemed arrogant and unrepentant. He pleaded for the imputation to be reduced, trying to prove that he did not know what was going on even in the most nationally sensitive areas of his state.

Specifically:

• He added to the lies of Mr. Economos, Mr. Gerapetritis, Mr. Pierrakakis and those around him who had been denying surveillance for weeks, the monstrous lie that he knew nothing about the surveillance of Nikos Androulakis. Which he still calls legal.

• He touted the national role of the EMP, but in an attempt to get rid of his own responsibilities, he did not hesitate to portray it as not only disorganized, but out of control.

• He didn’t even dare to utter the word “Predator” in an attempt to leave behind the established surveillance of this software, which the government even denies purchasing by government agencies.

• This was only mentioned in the case of surveillance of Andrulakis, but without explaining how and why the EMP decided on such an unprecedented action. He also said nothing about spying on journalists such as T. Koukakis.

• He did not answer the public concern raised by SYRIZA, how many more citizens, journalists and politicians and why the EPM put him under surveillance during his reign.

• He acted as a reformer of the EMP, while he himself stubbornly rejected all relevant proposals from SYRIZA and the opposition. He appointed his confidant as its head, even changing the law. He deprived ADAE, with a nightly amendment, of the right to inform the “objects” of surveillance. He orchestrated a cover-up and lie operation to hunt down Androulakis. So the propaganda apparatus of Maximus can involve third countries in the scandal, but also let out vile slanders about the president of PASOK-KINAL.

One thing Mr. Mitsotakis learned from the ill-fated televised apology attempt. That he is guilty, but also that he does not hesitate to any lie, any hypocrisy, any distortion in order to save himself.

In the end: he did not have the courage to do the self-evident thing for every liberal European democracy. That is, retire. And this is a big political mistake, which is added to the political crime of surveillance.

Let him be sure that the truth will not be hidden under the cement of controlled information and the dirt of his propaganda machine. The abscess has burst, and the truth will come out, whether he likes it or not. Events have already overtaken him.
