Premier League: Players won’t kneel before every match

The Premier League has announced that players will not kneel before kick-off. As noted, the players chose to take this action at a specific time during the league to reinforce the idea that racism has no place in football or society.

“The Premier League supports the players’ decision and will work with clubs to use these opportunities to promote anti-racism as part of the League’s No Racism Action Plan,” the statement said.

Players will kneel at Premier League matches, No Racism Matches in October and March, Boxing Day matches and the final game day. In addition, the players will continue this action in the Cup and League Cup finals.

“We have decided to choose important moments of the season to kneel to show our unity against all forms of racism, and in this way we continue to show solidarity in the name of a common cause.

We remain firmly committed to eradicating racial prejudice and building an inclusive society with respect and equal opportunity for all,” the Premier League captains said in a joint statement.
