The AUR Alliance, formed by the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, the Republican Party of Romania and the Romanian National Conservative Party, applied to the Central Electoral Bureau to officially change its name to the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, the request was rejected. Earlier, the BEC adopted a protocol on the establishment of the AUR Alliance.
At its meeting on Tuesday, the BEC adopted the Decision to reject the Law on the Amendment of the Protocol on the Foundation of the Electoral Alliance “AlianČ›a AUR”.
Through the rectification act, the three formations demanded that the official name of the formation be Alliance for the Union of Romanians.
“The BEC qualifies this act as an act of modification of the protocol,” the BEC assesses, adding that the protocol establishing the AUR Alliance has already been approved by the final decision.
As a result, the BEC rejects the act of changing the name, but this decision can be appealed within 48 hours to the High Court of Cassation and Justice. [Susa: News.ro]
