Israel’s parliament recently voted in favor of a law that allows Netanyahu to make the decision, as well as to close the Israeli headquarters of the television. 70 deputies spoke in favor, 10 against.

The law applies to foreign media that affect the security of the Jewish state.

“The terrorist channel Al-Jazeera will no longer broadcast in Israel. I intend to act immediately under the new law to shut down the channel,” Netanyahu said on the X Network.

Israel has repeatedly accused the pan-Arab TV channel of collaborating with the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the war in the Gaza Strip.
