Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will be sworn in for a third term as head of state on Tuesday at the future parliament building in the country’s new capital under construction near Cairo, the state-run daily al-Ahram announced on Monday. Removed AFP and Agerpres.

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, 69, has been in power for a decade and was re-elected three months ago with 89.6% of the vote, facing three opponents who are little known to the general public.

The president’s supporters believe the currency offer should revive the Egyptian economy, but AFP reports that some observers are still skeptical of the possibility of positive developments in the absence of structural reforms that reduce the role of the state and the army in the economy.
