A new kind of radar

New noise radar
Indeed, and unlike traditional radars, prototypes sound radars do not measure the speed of the car. Their acoustic device determines the decibels emitted by each engine. In France, approved vehicles usually do not exceed 80 decibels. The goal is clear: to set a limit that cannot be exceeded in order to preserve the peace of citizens. The results of the experiments were convincing, and the state decided to set the limit at 85 decibels. The second phase with fines was originally planned for the end of 2022, but the approval of the radars was delayed. The now agreed boxes will be reinstalled over the roads in the coming months. Drivers should be careful and not exceed the set limit, at the risk of fines. In Bron, a town on the outskirts of Lyon, for example, the sound radar will be operational from next month. And beware of sanctions. Because if you don’t follow the rules, you risk a fine of 135 euros, but it can be reduced to 90 euros.
