Poland’s defense minister announced on Thursday that his country would send military reinforcements to provide security for the Paris Olympics, while France is on high alert in the face of the threat of attacks, AFP reported.

“The Polish armed forces will join the international coalition created by France to support the preparation and security of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games,” Władysław Kosiniak-Kamis said on the X social network, without specifying the number of troops that will be involved.

“A task force of our soldiers, including sniffer dogs, will be deployed in Paris. Its main task will be conducting operations to detect explosives and fight terrorism,” the minister added.

According to the spokeswoman of the General Staff of the Polish Army, “decisions have already been made.”

“We are creating a ‘task force’ for the Olympic Games,” Joanne Kleischmidt told AFP, adding that France’s chief of staff, Thierry Burckhardt, visited Poland on Thursday.

The French government decided last Sunday, in the wake of the terrorist attack on a concert hall in Moscow that killed at least 143 people, to raise the Vigipirate plan to the maximum level, an “extraordinary attack”, four months before the Olympic Games in Paris.
