Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku announced on Thursday the decision related to the proposal of small and medium-sized traders to close supermarkets on weekends, as is the case in other European countries. “From all the signals coming from society, it becomes clear that closed shops on the weekend are not appropriate,” said the prime minister.

The prime minister announced this on Thursday at the beginning of the government meeting.

  • “In conclusion, I would like to close a topic that has caused wide discussions, namely the opening hours of stores on weekends. From all the signals coming from society, it becomes clear that it is not good to close shops on weekends! As far as I remember, markets were closed or shops were closed during the pandemic. I want to inform you that we are no longer at this stage,” Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku said.
