Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that it is “extremely hard to believe” that the Islamic State could have carried out a terrorist attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall last Friday, Reuters reports.

“They exposed themselves. They [Statele Unite] began to shout not to demand an investigation, but to get Ukraine out of the attack. Their prejudices and involvement in this story are obvious,” she also said during a press briefing on Wednesday, adding that if Ukraine was indeed not involved in the attack, “the first statements of the Americans should have been about the need to investigate and present the facts.”

Zakharova appears to have been referring to the fact that several hours after the attack, President Joe Biden’s administration said it had warned Russia of the threat of a terrorist attack in Moscow, and that there was no evidence that Ukraine was involved.

Actually, Zakharova reacted to these statements of Washington already on Friday evening.

“The White House stated that it does not see any signs of involvement of Ukraine or Ukrainians in the terrorist attack in Moscow,” she said. “On what basis do Washington officials jump to conclusions about someone’s innocence in the middle of a tragedy?” she added.

Zakharova added that if Washington has information, it should be shared, and if Washington does not have information, then “you shouldn’t talk like that.”

The head of the FSB also claims that the US warned Russia about the danger of the attack, but is involved in its organization

The head of the Federal Security Service in Moscow, Oleksandr Bortnikov, admitted on Tuesday that Russia had been warned by the US about the danger of a terrorist attack, but that the warning was “general” and the information had not been confirmed. .

Despite the American warning, Bortnikov also said on Tuesday that while the FSB had not yet determined who ordered the March 22 attack, “there are indications” that the United States, Britain and Ukraine were involved.

“Ukraine, of course,” Russian Security Council Chairman Mykola Patrushev also said on Tuesday after a journalist asked whether Ukraine or ISIS-K was behind the terrorist attack. The terrorist organization, an offshoot of the Islamic State, claimed responsibility for the attack hours after it was carried out and released photos of the alleged attackers.

However, an analysis published by HotNews.ro on Monday found that Russian media and Moscow propagandists almost completely ignored the fact that ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the attack, which destroyed the biggest promise that Vladimir Putin made to Russians.

On Wednesday, Russian investigators announced they would look into “a request from some lawmakers” to investigate what they called the “organization, financing and execution of terrorist acts” against Russia by the United States and other Western countries.
