
Sector 5 Mayor Cristian Popescu Piedone announced on Tuesday that he will no longer speak to the press for the next two weeks. The PUSL president said he is working with “experts” on a “work plan for Bucharest” which he will present “at the right time”.
Piedone, who has decided to run for mayor general of the municipality of Bucharest, announced this through a message published on his Facebook page.
The leader of the formation founded by Dan Voiculescu emphasized that he knows the problems the capital is facing and that he is working with experts to create a “Working Plan for Bucharest”!
“At the right time, we will present it to the citizens and undertake to implement it as such for the benefit of Bucharest and the country! I respectfully write these lines and inform you that in the next two weeks I will NOT communicate with any journalist, regardless of the topic!” – wrote Piedone.
He also stated that he would respond to media invitations after the first decade of April.
Pedestrians, the favorite of polls
On March 17, the current mayor of Sector 5, Cristian Popescu Piedone, officially announced his candidacy for the mayoralty of the capital from the Humanist Social Liberal Party, a party founded by Dan Voiculescu.
According to a poll commissioned by current Mayor Nikusor Dan and published on March 11, Piedone came out on top in the electorate’s preferences. The current mayor took second place – 39.3%.
According to a survey conducted on March 2-9 on behalf of Nikusor Dan, Cristian Popescu Piedone would have received 40.4% for the post of mayor general.
According to the Sociopol poll commissioned by the PSD-PNL alliance on March 21-24, Piedone ranks second in terms of electoral intentions, the mayor of sector 5 was named by 30% of respondents. 34% of those who expressed their voting option would vote for Nikusor Dan, and 24% for Katalin Kirsta.
Research conducted by Avangarde commissioned by Digi24 showed that if the local elections were held on Sunday, Cristian Popescu Piedone would receive 44% of the votes in the capital city hall, followed by Nikušor Dan with 27% and the PSD-PNL candidate. , doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu, with 16%.
The poll also presents a scenario in which Piedone will give up the fight for Bucharest.
Voters of Christian Popescu Piedone were asked who they would have voted for if he had not run. The Avangarde poll shows that if Christian Popescu Piedone withdrew his candidacy, 41% would vote for Nikušor Dan, 29% for Katalin Kiršta and 27% for Mihai Enake.
Bucharest residents were also asked how satisfied they were with Nikusor Dan during his years as mayor. 41% assessed the activity of the current mayor as “rather negative”, and 25% – as “rather positive”.
