Dani Alves has been in pre-trial detention since January 20, 2023 after being accused of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30-31, 2022.

He agreed to post bail of one million euros and was released on Monday.

Among the conditions of Alves’ release is the relinquishment of his Brazilian and Spanish passports so that he cannot leave Spain, as well as the obligation to appear in court every week, Reuters writes.

The court also imposed a restraining order, prohibiting Alves from approaching the victim within a kilometer.

The decision, which was not unanimous due to one of the judges voting against it, can still be appealed.
