Thus, the PNL will send its candidate to the mayor’s office of Brasov, where he will fight Allen Coliban, and the PSD to the mayor’s office of Bacau, which is currently headed by Lucian Visiteu.

And in Timișoara County, an agreement has been reached: Alfred Simonis will be the PSD candidate for the county council, while Nicolae Robu will enter the race for the PNL’s Timisoara mayoralty to face Dominik Fritz.

The decision comes in the context of the PNL branch in Timisoara voting unanimously against the electoral alliance with the PSD at the PNL Emergency National Council convened on Sunday evening.

It has been decided on joint candidacies for Sector 1 by the PNL, as well as Sectors 2 and 5, which will receive bids from the PSD.

The Liberals and Social Democrats are still analyzing the possibility of joint candidacies in Satu Mare and Mures, but no decision has yet been made.

Monday’s decision comes after Bucharest University Hospital director Catalin Kirstou was officially presented as the PSD-PNL candidate for the capital city hall last week.

Who will open the list in the European Parliament?

A debate is also expected on the list for the European Parliament, which was left without a candidate from the 1st place, after the head of the European Commission’s representation in Romania, Ramona Kyriac, who initially opened the list of the PSD-PNL alliance, announced her withdrawal on Thursday.

Member of the European Parliament Mihai Tudose said that after the statement of Ramona Kyriak that she will not run in the elections to the European Parliament, it is not excluded that the two parties will abandon the idea of opening the list with an independent candidate. When asked if he would open a list of candidates, Tudose said: “I think so.”

Among the liberals, the MEP Raresh Bohdan is the first on the list.

During internal meetings last week, the liberals talked about the idea of drawing lots for those who would open a joint PSD-PNL list in the European Parliament.
