David Popovici continues his preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris, and the Romanian swimmer won the 100 and 200 meters freestyle at the Antwerp Diamond Speedo (Belgium).

With the exception of the Romanian athlete, only swimmers from Belgium and the Netherlands participated in the competition in Antwerp.

At the distance of 100 m freestyle, Popovich showed the best time in heats (48.57) and in the final (48.34). The podium was completed by the Dutch Sean Nivold (48.89) and Stan Piinenburg (49.97).

At the distance of 200 m free, David was almost five seconds faster than his rivals in the final. The Romanian stopped the clock at 1:46.51, followed by Dutchman Cohen Marsman (1:51.13) and Efe Ongoren (1:51.44).

Davyd Popovichi will take part in the National Swimming Championship among adults, youth and juniors in the Olympic pool from Otopeni (April 17-21).
