For several years thermal machines hunted from all sides and accused of all evil. And in particular contribute to global warming. This is what ZFEs were created for.

Very strict ZFE

By the way, these low-emission zones are based on the Crit’Air sticker, which prohibits the movement of cars that are too old and are considered too polluting. A decision that continues to spark controversy among motorists and elected officials alike. So the government decided to go back and change some things. In addition, on March 19, the state further relaxed the rules regarding low emission zones In France. Thus, from January 1, the ZFEs of Rouen, Aix-Marseille and Strasbourg will no longer be required to tighten their restrictions. Crit’Air 3 vehicles will no longer be automatically banned from driving these zones. The good news for drivers and owners of these cars has been banned everywhere. But be careful as the final decision still rests with the cities concerned. And Strasbourg does not want to return, on the contrary. Much to the chagrin of motorists.

Crit’Air 3 is banned in ZFE

Despite being recognized as a “ZFE vigilance area” that no longer requires the banning of too-old cars from the streets, the metropolis will retain ban on Crit’Air 3 from 2025. He confirms that improvements in air quality do not justify deviation from this trajectory, as stated in his press release. “It should be remembered that this is only the first year that the new monitoring station is below the current threshold of 40 µg/m3, and that ATMO Grand Est also highlighted that this improvement is also a result of weather factors. […] In addition, the registered value of NO2 concentration (36 µg/m3) is still significantly higher than the new threshold set by the EU air directive (20 µg/m3), which must be finally adopted by the European institutions by June, as well as the WHO regulatory value (10 µg /m3)”. Eurometropolis will thus join Lyon and Paris in their decision to ban Crit’Air 3 vehicles from circulation in their ZFEs until 2025.

For its part, the metropolis of Aix-Marseille postponed the extension of its ZFE Rouen has already announced that Crit’Air 3 will be able to continue circulating.
