Previewed by the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Infiniti QX Monograph concept car, announced in recent weeks with several photos and teaser videos, the third generationInfiniti QX80 finally revealed.
The first model with the new Infiniti design
This new generation of the Infiniti QX80 is the first production model to adopt the brand’s new stylistic direction. We find something new a noticeable radiator grill a double arch framed by LED daytime running lights, the segments of which were inspired by piano keys. In the lower part we find the main projectors, which thus form a two-story light signature. The profile is both exquisite and sculptural, flush with the door handles. At the rear, we find a substantial trunk, which is marked by a wide strip that incorporates the taillights, across the entire width of the car.
“The all-new QX80 is the first production model created under our advanced design language: Artistry in Motion”Alfonso Albaisa, Senior Vice President of Infiniti Design, said on the occasion: “On the outside we’ve stayed true to the provocative vision we created with the QX Monograph, while on the inside we’ve seamlessly integrated technology amongst the finest materials to create a sense of craftsmanship. Make it unusual in all three rows. »
Infiniti QX80: full of technology
The interior, inspired by Japanese culture, contains numerous soft-touch materials. The technology is present with two 14.3-inch screens : a customizable headset in front of the driver, as well as a central touchscreen that controls the connected infotainment system using Google technology. A color head-up display is also available as an option, and an additional touch screen allows you to control the climate. There are three rows of seats up to 7 people on board, with heated, ventilated and massaging seats, and there is a high-quality Klipsch audio system with a capacity of 1200 watts, equipped with 24 speakers.
Many technologies are built into the Infiniti QX80, such as a wide-view front camera, the Invisible Hood View system that allows you to see “through the hood”, 360° cameras “3D AroundView” with recognition of objects in motion or even System ProPilot Assist 1.1 which includes advanced driver assistance functions. AND electronic air suspension allows you to adapt the behavior of the car to the driving situation, while promoting comfort by reducing body movements.
Under the hood of the QX80 we find a V6 engine Nissan VR35DDTT 3.5L that develops a trifle 450 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, an increase of 50 horsepower and 140 Nm compared to the current generation, while improving performance and reducing fuel consumption. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with a 40% increased range of gear ratios and is linked to all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, depending on the version.
Designed for the North American market, the Infiniti QX80 will be presented on 2024 New York Auto Showwhich will open its doors to the public from March 29 to April 7, 2024. Its prices start at US$82,450, which is equivalent to approx 75,500 euros.
