Canadian actor Keanu Reeves surprised his fans with a radical change of “image”, abandoning the curls known for years in favor of a short haircut, reports People magazine.

The 59-year-old actor allegedly cut his hair to get into the role of his hero Result, a dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill, in which he stars alongside Cameron Diaz. For Diaz, the new role will be the first after a ten-year hiatus from acting.

As for Reeves, he just finished filming in Luckanother comedy that will be the directorial debut of comedian and actor Aziz Ansari.

Although the producers of this film are keeping secret the details of its story, Variety magazine notes that it will be a comedy that will unfold around the so-called “gig” economy in Los Angeles. The gig economy refers to the labor market where independent contractors offer their services for contract activities. Examples of this could be platforms for sharing rides or home delivery.

People magazine notes that while Reeves’ new look is a surprise, it’s not entirely new, noting that the actor cut his hair even shorter for the films Matrix.

In his most recent appearance at a public event, he sported the same look that fans have become accustomed to over the years, receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Saturn Awards last month.

Reeves was also nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in a feature film. John Wick: Chapter 4but this award eventually went to Harrison Ford for the latter film Indiana Jones.
