  • “The liberal mayors of Prahova county sent an open letter to the leadership of the National Liberal Party, in which they express their support for the candidacy of Julian Dumitrescu for the new mandate of the CJ president. The request was also materialized through a decision made today, 20.03.2024, unanimously by the Board of Directors of PNL Prahova District. At the same forum, Bohdan Nika, director of the Constantin Andrea Ploiesti District Emergency Hospital, was elected PNL’s candidate for Ploiesti City Hall,” PNL Prahova said in a press release published Wednesday evening.

The cited document states that “among the arguments of local elected officials in support of Iulian Dumitrescu’s candidacy is his unprecedented efficiency in attracting European funds,” as well as the fact that under his leadership “work has begun on bypasses from Comarnic, Azuga-Buşteni, Păuleşti, Mizil and Câmpina” and invested in dozens of settlements in the district, as well as in the Ploiesti District Hospital.

  • “These are important and big projects that have never happened since the revolution. We worked long and hard on everything, together as a team. This became possible thanks to the fruitful and effective cooperation between the territorial administrative units and the County Council headed by Iulian Dumitrescu. At the moment, Prahova cannot afford administrative experiments, and the costs of some blocking are simply huge. Our district needs continuity,” says the open letter of PNL mayors from Prahov.

According to the signatories of the letter, Iulian Dumitrescu is a “guarantee that the started projects will be completed and the settlements of Prahova will continue to develop and prosper”, also stated in the press release of PNL Prahova.

Julian Dumitrescu, former president of PNL Prahova and former first vice-president of PNL, is suspected of having, with the help of his brother-in-law Daniel Lambreau, demanded from the businessman, in exchange for 47,500,000 lei, shares that owned by Daniel Lambrea in a commercial company, the value of which is overestimated compared to their real value, in connection with his performance of the duties of the president of the district of Prahova (CJ) and would receive, until December 4, 2023, with the help of 2 accomplices, on the total amount of 16,210,000 lei.

One of the businessman’s companies would have had a contract with CJ Prahova at the time of the lawsuit, and after the acquisition of the commercial company from Lambrea, it would have been awarded a new contract for the performance of works with the beneficiary CJ Prahova.

President CJ Prahov is also suspected of failing to disclose in the three wealth declarations he filled out significant sums of money that would have been spent mainly on foreign trips and luxury items purchased outside the country, a private high school, tennis lessons, rent in an elite residential complex.

After the indictment, Dumitrescu announced that he was resigning from all the positions he held in the NLP, namely the position of the first vice-president of the NLP and the president of the NLP Prahov.
