The competitions can be followed live on Eurosport: all competitions (men’s, women’s, doubles and dance) will be broadcast from 20 to 24 March.

Kaori Sakamoto and Shoma Uno are aiming to make history, each aiming for a third consecutive success in the women’s and men’s events respectively. Such a streak of titles in both the women’s and men’s events has not been achieved since 1969, when Peggy Fleming and Emmerich Danzer won three consecutive titles in their Geneva trials.

Uno will have rivals in the men’s event. 19-year-old American Ilya Malinin represents a new generation, and he, Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama and European champion Adam Hsiao Him Fa are contenders for the world title after winning this season’s Grand Prix.

In the women’s competition, Sakamoto is the main favorite. She is coming off an exceptional season and the only one who could match her is Belgium’s Loena Hendrickx.

The Japanese dominated the previous World Championships, with Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara winning the doubles event. Both will return to the ice in Montreal this year.

Last but not least, reigning dance competition champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates are favorites to defend their title in 2023.
