
825 new cases of measles have been registered in Romania in the past week, and an unvaccinated girl aged one year and two months died of the disease, the National Institute of Public Health reported.
The girl who died of measles had been in contact with her sister, who also had symptoms suggestive of measles, the INSP said.
From January 1, 2023 to March 17, 2024, 8,845 cases of measles were registered in our country, 825 of them in the last week alone.
Also, since the beginning of the year, 9 deaths due to the disease have been recorded in Romania.
The most diseases were registered in the counties of Brasov – 1,397, Mures – 1,041 and Bucharest – 1,073.
In the period from December 6, 2023 to March 17, 2024, according to the data of the National Electronic Register of Vaccinations, 97,806 doses of the PDA vaccine were used, of which 15,759 doses were for children aged 9 to 11 months.
