A 22-year-old man from Tirgu Jiu municipality was detained for 24 hours on charges of beating a 34-year-old woman at a bus station in the city on Tuesday night, IPJ Gorj announced on Wednesday in a statement cited by Agerpres.
Tirgu Jiu police were alerted on Tuesday evening to the aggression that took place at the bus station, the statement said.
After the inspection, it was established that a 22-year-old man punched and kicked the woman in the head and body.
The police found him and took him to the hearing. He was later detained for 24 hours, accused of committing a crime of beating or other violence.
The young man was placed in the IPJ Gorj Detention and Preventive Arrest Center and is due to be brought to court to determine whether he will be pre-arrested.
