The head of the Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service, Doctor Alis Grasu, explained that a tick on the skin, a nail cut too short or even a dislocated shoulder are not emergencies to require an ambulance intervention, as the patient can go to the nearest emergency department, quoted by News .ro. The doctor explained that there are people who call twice a day, but cases are a priority.
“It is not necessary to call an ambulance when a tick gets on the skin. You go to the nearest emergency room, trauma center, surgery and solve the tick problem. This tick does not immediately threaten your life and does not prevent you from moving. When you have an ingrown toenail, when you cut your nails too deep and it hurts, there is no reason to call an ambulance. With vaginal candidiasis and severe itching at 3 o’clock in the morning, there is no reason to call an ambulance. Dislocation of the shoulder, even this is not the reason, because you can move. You carefully immobilize your hand and go to the nearest hospital where there is orthopedics and where your problem will be solved,” said Dr. Alice Grasu on Medika TV.
Alis Grasu explained that there are already famous people who ask for the intervention of an ambulance twice a day.
“There are also those people who are forced to call an ambulance, who have such offensive requests. There are famous people who call every day, sometimes twice a day, about mental disorders, panic attacks, to measure the blood pressure, and they think that you need to go every time, as in any serious situation. We cannot refuse them, we try to prioritize as correctly as possible to protect the emergency code red, and this is done through the teletriage system, which we improve at every stage,” said Alice Grasu.
