On Saturday, March 16, mourning was announced in Odesa after the largest Russian attack in the port city. On Friday, at least 21 people died and more than 70 were injured. State media reported higher casualties, which they said were “foreign mercenaries,” while Ukrainian authorities said rockets hit buildings and homes.

The number of people killed as a result of the Russian attack in Odesa has increased to 21 people, reports the Russian BBC service. Another rescuer died in the hospital from his injuries.

According to the Armed Forces, a double shelling by the Russians destroyed a three-story recreation building, damaged at least 10 buildings, a gas station, a gas pipeline, ambulances and fire engines. A paramedic and a fireman were killed in the second impact.

Russian state media with the headline “In Odesa, a group of foreign mercenaries was destroyed during an attack on a sanatorium.”

The TASS news agency writes that “about 100 mercenaries were eliminated, more than 100 were wounded.”

According to TASS, a “large group of Western mercenaries” was killed during the missile attack on the “Mriya” sanatorium in Odesa.
