Labor Minister Simona Bucura Oprescu said on Wednesday that under the new pension law, the pension of a Romanian who has worked for the minimum wage in the economy for 35 years will increase by 80% from 1,281 lei, the minimum social assistance, to somewhere around 1,900 lei, thanks to stability points, reports News.ro.
“The difference is represented by the stability points, the points that are given for years of work over 25 years, and if we look together at the modeling that the colleagues from the State Pension Houses have done, we will see that especially in the area of ”small pensions, we will have a significant increase “, the Minister of Labor said in a show on Prima News about those Romanians who can receive an increased pension, according to the new pension law, up to 80%.
Simona Bucura Oprescu explained that “if we have a Romanian who has worked for the minimum wage in the economy for 35 years, we will see that he will have an increase of more than 80% of his pension, from 1281 lei, while it is the minimum social assistance, about 1,900 lei for retirement, thanks to stability points.”
New for those with 40 years of contributions
“Years under 25 do not bring additional points. At the moment, in the pension legislation, we have a minimum service of 15 years, a full service of 35 years, and we also have another innovation in the law: those with 40 years of service can retire under the new law, without any penalties , i.e. if you are male, you started at 20, the maximum retirement age is 65, you can retire at 60 without any penalties. This is very important for pensioners to know, especially pensioners, in order to plan their career and life accordingly,” Simona Bucura Oprescu also noted.
