Former US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he opposes a ban on TikTok in the United States, opposing the current head of state, who is ready to support a bill that threatens the social network, AFP reported.

“What I don’t like is that without TikTok, you’re going to make Facebook bigger, which to me is as much the enemy of the people as any other medium of communication,” Trump said in an interview with CNBC.

Donald Trump now appears to have changed his mind after issuing an executive order banning TikTok in the United States in August 2020, citing threats to national security.

All fifty members of a House committee voted Thursday in favor of a bill that, if passed, would force TikTok’s parent company ByteDance to sell its subsidiary or face a ban on the social network in the United States.

According to several US media outlets, the bill will be brought up for a vote in the House of Representatives this week.
