Difficult return from vacation
But we are also often very happy to have found our home, our little things and our habits. But sometimes things don’t go as planned, even the other way around. And that’s exactly what happened to our motorist today, who was in for a very unpleasant surprise when he returned from vacation. He actually left his car in his hometown, in Biarritz, parked on the street free parking space near his house. Unfortunately, his vehicle did not have the ability to stand still for long. Between his departure on November 15 and his return on January 4, the car simply disappeared. flight? In no case. The pound actually did its job, perhaps a little too zealously for our poor driver. According to the rules, a vehicle cannot be parked on public roads for more than seven days, and in Biarritz only 48 hours. Therefore, the authorities took the necessary measures.
The vacation did not go well
Investigators proceeded to seize the car. From there, the steps continued. A registered letter was sent to the owner inviting him to come within 45 days. Unfortunately, he didn’t, and the car was eventually destroyed without further ado. A heavy blow to its owner, as you can imagine. The latter therefore finds himself without a car and expresses himself, explaining that “it would be enough to humanize the way of doing things. If I had received a regular text instead of a registered letter, I would still have my station wagon. He considers this an “abuse of power”, even though the agents responsible for seizing the car followed the normal protocol that applies to vehicles valued at less than €756. However, according to its owner, the Ford in question is worth almost €4,000 at Argus. The latter estimates the damage at 4,500 euros. So he sent a letter to the mayor of Biarritz, but so far there has been no response.
It remains to be seen if this driver can win the case and get a new car in the coming weeks.
