A 19-year-old boy from Bacău, who has a suspended driver’s license and failed to stop at the police signal, was arrested on Saturday night after they followed him in traffic and managed to block him, News.ro reported. The man threatened both his own safety and the safety of other road users when he decided to ignore the policemen’s signals and try to run away from them, say law enforcement officers.

The pursuit took place on Saturday in the streets of the municipality of Bacau. On Calea Moldovei, a police crew issued a legal signal to a car driven by a 19-year-old driver. Instead of turning right, the boy drove around the police car and continued driving, and when he saw that the police car was chasing him, he increased his speed.

“Police officers chased the moving car, managed to block it and free the driver from behind the wheel, immobilizing him. The young man was driving in traffic with a car, violating several traffic rules, which probably endangered both his safety and the safety of other road users,” said representatives of the Bacau police.

After checks, the police established that a 19-year-old boy from the municipality of Bacău had lost the right to drive vehicles on public roads.

He was tested on the devices provided, and the results were negative for alcohol or drug use.

After the application of probation, the young man was detained for 24 hours and placed in the prison IPJ Bacau. In the criminal proceedings, the investigation into the fact of committing the offense of driving a vehicle on public roads with the deprivation of this right was continued.
