Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear measurements carried out on Saturday morning by the CBRN crew in Bazdana village, Kalopar commune, Dolj county, still indicate the presence of methane accumulations in shallow wells in some areas. soil, but also above ground level.
In the homestead, where the explosion occurred eight days ago, the methane concentration in the area of the 10-centimeter-deep well is one hundred percent, and five centimeters above the well, the methane concentration drops to 3.5%.
In the same household, near the well, measurements indicate 36% methane at a depth of 10 centimeters and 6% methane 5 centimeters above. In the living space, the concentration of methane is 47%, while lower concentrations of the gas were measured on Sunday in the basement and in the corner of the house.
In another six households, measuring devices indicated different gas concentrations, in one of them a home-made installation for catching gas was found. This household and another where methane was detected in the well have been isolated and are under the supervision of the Voluntary Emergency Service of the Kalopar commune.
Measurements taken on Sunday in eight other households in the same village showed no methane.
Last week, a man from Dolj arrived at the hospital in serious condition with 1st and 2nd degree burns after an explosion in the house where he was staying. Two years ago, he might have discovered a bag of gas in his yard in Bazdana village, Kalopar commune, when he notified the authorities, but no action was taken. Now the man drilled a well in the yard of the house, and the gas burned for about a week until the explosion occurred.
“People have been living with this gas coming from wells and groundwater for many years. Now we do not deny the fact that the gas coming out of the ground can pose a danger to the residents of the respective area,” Dolj District Prefect Dan Diaconu said on Monday.
